The short version Four pages of law say roughly this Version 3 · 13 Aug 2026

Listening costs nothing and asks nothing. What we cannot give away is other people’s music — the records we play are licensed to us, for the hours we play them, and that licence does not travel with a copy.

Listening

Free, no account

Open the stream from anywhere, on anything. No sign-up, no paywall, no region locked out.

Recording

Yours to keep

Tape the night for yourself. Publishing it as your own is where the line sits.

Everything else

Just ask

Reuse, embed at scale, quote a whole show — one mail and the answer is usually yes.

The stream and what you may do with it

No account · no paywall · no geoblock

Go ahead

Listen anywhere, on any device, without an account or a payment.

Link to the station, a show page, or a single archive entry.

Embed our player on your own site — it stays free and unbranded.

Record the stream for yourself, and keep it as long as you like.

Quote a line from the journal with a credit and a link back.

Ask first

Rebroadcast the stream — over the air, in a venue, or through another service.

Sell a recording of a show, or put one behind someone else’s paywall.

Cut a guest set into your own mix and release it as your work.

Use our name, logo, or a host’s voice to suggest we endorse something.

Scrape the site or the archive at a rate that costs us bandwidth we pay for.

Who owns what you hear

Three layers · three different owners

01Labels & publishers

The music

Every record belongs to whoever made and released it. We hold a broadcast licence for the hours we are on air; it covers our transmission and nothing beyond it.

Licensed per hour, not per copy

02Stichting AVAVA

The programme

Links, jingles, the journal, the artwork, the schedule and this website belong to the station. Non-commercial reuse with a credit is almost always granted.

Ours · ask and usually yes

03The guest

Guest sets

A visiting DJ keeps their set. We get the right to broadcast it, keep it in the archive, and take it down again the day they ask.

Theirs · we only borrow it

Licences cost us €2.71 of every broadcast hour · that is why a show cannot simply be handed over See what an hour costs ↗

What you send us

You keep it · we get permission to use it once

Donations

A monthly gift can be stopped at any point and stops immediately. A one-off gift is a gift — but write within 14 days and we will send it back, no questions.

Tapes

Runs of two hundred, twice a year. Orders, shipping and returns are handled by Bandcamp, not by us.

Their terms apply to the order

03By the hour

Studio hire

Studio two, with or without an engineer. A booking is confirmed when we reply in writing — not when the form is sent.

48 h to cancel free of charge

04Case by case

Sponsorship

We take support from people and institutions, credited once per hour in plain words. No ad reads, no branded shows.

Never a spot in the music

What we do not promise

Nine hosts · one machine · an old building

If the stream drops during the show you waited for, we are sorry — genuinely — but nothing is owed. That is the honest deal with free radio, and we would rather write it here than bury it in a clause.

99.2% Uptime, last 12 months 6 h 51 off air in total

Uptime

It goes down sometimes, usually at night, usually briefly.

The schedule

A plan, not a promise. Guests cancel and hosts get ill.

The archive

Two weeks back. Rights can pull a show earlier than that.

Other sites

Links leave our building and land under someone else’s rules.

Injury, deliberate harm and gross negligence are not excluded — Dutch law does not allow it, and neither does this page

Law and paperwork

Changes are logged, not quietly swapped

Version history

A change that affects you is announced in the weekly letter before it takes effect
